Commissioning

We headed off to Lincoln to be commissioned at 1st Presbyterian Church where Sue and Karl go, but had to turn back when we hit a white out blizzard a few miles out of Columbus. Pete was with us and Tam and Scott B. were going, but didn't because of the weather also. I hope all went well for Sue and Karl, but the roads were just too bad. Nicaragua is looking better by the minute. The last thing we heard was it was hot and dusty, the bugs are out in full force. This is the best season, between the hurricane season which just ended and the rainy season which starts in June. I included a nice picture of the snow. Note the flags flying straight in the wind!! This was taken out my front door when we got back home. NN

Today is the start of your mission adventure. I'm sure you've been thinking hard on what you will need, not only for your selves, but to accomplish your surgical/medical goals. All I can say is you have more at your disposal than the "missionaries" of 3 years ago. You go with your intelligence ("wits" is the gritty word that would relate to this endeavor) and a wonderful ability to adapt. I have no doubt each of you will leave your mark in the hearts and minds of the residents. The "hardships" you experience will stay with you forever and forge lasting relationships not only with each other, but those you leave behind. May Gods grace smile on you today and every day. Deb P
